SUSTAINABILITY

While we work together to adopt sustainable health habits, Wai Lifestyle also advocates for environmentally-practices that coincide with that journey.

Did you know that you could eat the leafy greens and stems that grow out of beetroots? Or the carrot tops that have a parsley-like taste? What about the leaves of the broccoli plant that make up the majority of the plant itself?

Thanks to events like A Healthy Blueprint's "Showcasing Solutions on Food Waste Management and Reduction in NYC," we continue to raise awareness about reducing food waste by eating parts of our produce that we normally toss in the trash.

How many times do you find yourself taking out the trash? Of this trash, how much of it is compostable, recyclable, or even unnecessary? Or how much of it could have been avoided? Society today is doing well in terms of reducing waste, but there is much more we can do to help. In regards to food waste alone, we could become more active in reducing waste and save money while doing so!

There are many ways to tackle food waste, and just one change in your habits could create a large impact. Let's start with buying groceries. Aim to buy produce that is in season. Not only will those items be cheaper, but they probably require a smaller carbon footprint to get to you.
